  • Hydrazinium sulfate is a useful agent for the N-deacylation of various molecules. In the N-deacylation of the ceramide moiety of glycosphingolipids, Hydrazine sulfate was an effective catalyst for the deacylation of the ceramide moiety. It has been used in a modified hydrazinolysis procedure in which the glycosaminoglycans were heated with a hydrazine solution resulting in rapid rates of N-deacetylation and minimal conversion of uronic acid residues to their hydrazide derivatives.
